The MAIORcaritas group
"Quia ubi est maior caritas, ibi est maius desiderium; et desiderium quodammodo facit desiderantem aptum et paratum ad susceptionem desiderati." - St. Thomas Aquinas
(Where there is the greatest love, there is the most desire; and desire in a certain degree makes the one deserving and prepared to receive the object desired)
The MAIORcaritas is a group born out of a recording session when alumni from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Pharmacy thought of a worthwhile fundraising activity along with the 40th founding anniversary of their glee club. They have long admired the University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers (Madz), even sneaking to the Cultural Center of the Philippines to watch their concerts, in spite of the very hectic schedule in the academe.
These former glee club members, who are now professionals in the health sciences, take a break from their busy careers to sing with the Madz. Singing together is their greatest love. As young students they shared with each other their passion for choral art while developing lifelong friendships, and through this project, their greatest love now lives as a group of the same name: MAIORcaritas.
Maior caritas is a group of singers, a festival organization, a CD recording by the University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers, and a magnum opus by John August Pamintuan.
